With a few exceptions, I’m right-handed, but left ear dominant.
When I was five, I sat down at the family piano and played the first eight measures of Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata, Op. 27 #2. I’d never touched a keyboard before. Since I don’t have perfect pitch, I played it in C minor rather than C# minor, which I only discovered when I learned to read music.
I’ve been writing poetry and fiction as long as I can remember.
But even now, I tend to be a half step off in my first drafts.
Right hand, left ear.
I guess I’m wired that way.
